Men Change Behavior More than Women in Response to Times Square Bombing Attempt
Women are more concerned for safety due to Times Square bombing attempt
Flemington, NJ, May 4, 2010 – Results of a new study among 803 Americans revealed that men reported a greater change in precautionary behavior than women in response to the recent attempted bombing in Times Square.
The study was conducted from May 3 to 4 by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com® website, to obtain Americans’ perceptions of their personal safety in light of the recent attempted bombing in Times Square in New York City. To view detailed results go to: www.mediacurves.com.
While 85% of women indicated that they have not changed their behavior or lifestyle after becoming aware of the attempted bombing, fewer men (77%) reported that they have not changed their behavior. Based on a 1 to 7 scale, a higher percentage of men (4.3) also indicated that they felt more at risk of a bombing occurring near them than women (3.4). However, when asked to indicate their level of concern that a bombing might occur near them based on a 1 to 7 scale, women rated their concern (3.7) higher than men (3.5).

The question asked should the US government spend more money regarding bomb threats. The answer is no, the US spends plenty of money, but it doesn't spend the money in the right places. The US does not need to spend more money but it needs to redirect the money it spends toward protecting the US.
If the Government doesn't come up with an answer regarding WHO put the SUV there with the bomb inside by tonight, I will officially believe it wasn't a REAL terroist attack and a US Government Scare.
There's so many satelitte videos/devices going on in the UGoS (forget 42nd street) That they should know right away who was responsible. Google maps should even have an answer... smh!!!!
Our government is not at all prepared for a terrorist attack or anything catastrophic for that matter.

I'm not very concerned about a bombing near me in Colorado. However, if there is one, I'm 60 so I figure I've lived a good amount of time and thus I'm not concerned for that reason, as well. Kind of a fatalist attitude, I guess.
A survey of importance. Does make one think of the safety issues in the USA. Just never know where or when, but I can't live my life in fear and don't think others do either. It saddens me when theres a threat -be it terroist or an individual.
It is a shame this happen. You must go on living and not let the terrorist get to you. Be aware of your surroundings like that vendor man was. I would love to visit NY Its probably the safest place with security, police and people watching out for unusual events. If something happens of planes the people take the person down...We are not afraid to fight back. A proud Citizen of the United States of America

I think we can all do our part and report any suspicious behavior so that the authorities can check it out. The authorities are only so many in numbers so we all have to do our part.

This worlds getting to be a scary place and we all need to be prepared at all times for any situation no matter how small.
The U.S. government spends money wastefully. Greater security against bomb threats requires policy changes, not increased spending.
I lived in New York. I think the people, police, and vendors are aware and alert and will do anything possible to stop a terrorist threat. They will catch the terrer suspects.
No. 1: I hate New York; who would want to live on a solid concrete island?
No.2: Just because this "governement spends more money on domestic terosim does NOT mean that it spends it wisely. Doesn't anybody see that?
I feel the potential bomb threat was hyped by the OBama administration to make us feel he is doing a good job protecting us.
USA does not need more money to prevent terrorism. U.S. needs to withdraw all troops from around the world worry about their country and save money. USA needs to develop with manufacturers and technology and wealth stop looking elsewhere. mouth shut and concentrate on creating alternative sources of energy.
The bomb threat was just that, a threat and no-one was hurt or injured. This happens in more than just N.Y. city - and there isn't so much fuss!!
I live on 50 acres in rural WV, 27 miles from the nearest Walmart. I am not afraid of a terriorist attack.
It was an interesting survey,bomb threats,the war,terriost's we have a lot on our plate,It's worry all the time.When I was a child we never worried about these things.This is a crazy world we live in.
We have to come to terms with the reality that America is under attack from forces against our ideology.
However we also need to trust and believe that our government knows this and they will protect us.
I also believe that there should be checks and balances in the system to safeguard against misuse of power and authority.

People need to stop giving away our freedoms to Washington for fear of terrorism.

The US Government needs to appropriate the current money to the proper channels. We are taxed severely to keep our safety up yet things keep falling through the cracks. It seems as though the monies are spent on other things the government deems more appropriate. Once they (the US Government) gets the money, who knows where it goes. There's no accountability. And who are we, the people, to ask? And if someone does ask they are ridiculed. Sad, very sad.
Ten years ago I never even gave it a thought traveling outside the United States, but now I would have to really think about it. Traveling in the United States I would feel about 97% safe. I do have to admit that the safety of family and friends flying in the states, would cross my mind.
Now I do have to admit with the drug wars happening in Mexico, I would not recommend anyone visiting Mexico.
i don't think the government can find every potential terriorist in this country
