Viewers Split on Decision by CBS to Reject Mancrunch Ad from Super Bowl
Majority of viewers find Mancrunch ad somewhat offensive or inappropriate
Flemington, NJ, February 4, 2010 – A new media study among 300 Americans revealed that respondents were split on the decision by CBS to reject an ad sponsored by a gay dating website, after viewing the ad.
The study was conducted during February 2-4 by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com® website, to obtain viewers’ perceptions a controversial commercial from the gay dating website, Mancrunch.com, which features two men kissing while watching the Super Bowl game. The ad was rejected by CBS from being aired during the Super Bowl game. To view detailed results go to: www.mediacurves.com.
Viewers were split on the decision by CBS to reject the ad, with 55% indicating that the ad should have been rejected, and 45% reporting that it should not have been rejected from airing during the Super Bowl game. The majority of viewers (64%) reported that the ad was at least somewhat inappropriate or offensive.

While viewing the video, participants indicated their perceived levels of interest by moving their mouse from left to right on a continuum. The responses were recorded in quarter-second intervals and reported in the form of curves. The participants were also asked to respond to post-viewing questions.

The agressiveness in this ad is what is so disturbing. Regardless of sexual orientation, this is inappropriate for TV.

I am not against homosexuals, but I guess I was surprised to find out that this commercial might be shown during the SuperBowl. I feel it belongs on a website intended for gays and would be appropriate there. At first, I thought it was done in jest and found it funny. But then I realized it may not have been as funny as I first thought.

One issue not discussed, the guys should not make out in front of the 3rd guy,n kids shouldnt think such private actions are ok to perform in front of other people, regardless of sexual orientation. As for the homosexuality: oh I am SO mad at myself over my opinions and reactions over this. The ad was funny, n I smiled n even chuckled a time or two, but I dont want my grandkids seeing it. I think its inappropriate for the channel to have accepted a Christian Church ad, n would prefer they redo this ad without the kissing and then I'd support it being aired fully. I guess I think society isnt ready for such a full-on, in-your-face assault on hypocrisy and judgement of "other". I really dont think its necessary for a similar ad for heterosexuals to show a man n woman making out, but honestly wouldnt disturb me as much. Its the trying to explain to kids - I'm still worried about explaining to them why other families have a daddy and they do not - kids see mom, dad, kids n that's the norm, n its hard enough to introduce them to "other" as they grow older n more able to understand, but some kids simply wont understand this. Of course I think there are a LOT of things on tv and ads easily accessible to children, during family viewing hours n on almost every channel, that need not and should not be there, including ANYONE making out passionately like this - and the guys making out in front of the 3rd man is highly inappropriate too - man woman or any combo, its not right to make out in public and kids shouldnt think it is.

People need to loosen up and see the humor in this commercial. I'm pretty sure there are football players and many football fans, coaches, and trainers that are gay and this just reaches out to them. Why do gay men or women get treated differently. Close minded Americans should learn that love and affection are wonderful no matter whether it is a gay, straight, transgender, bi or whatever love.....and maybe all of the men who are so upset about this ad...maybe it's cus you have feelings you are denying and don't have the balls to be true to yourself and others. The gay community needs our support and that involves them having a little airtime. Gross nudity and degradation of women is ok though as long as it is in a straight forum. People, please think, and stop your HATE!!

I thought this ad was no more offensive than all of the ones using sex to sell their items. Case in point: Godaddy. i have no problem whatsoever in seeing a gay dating commercial and i think this one was actually BETTER than the Godaddy spots. WeBB should not censor, if something offends you, shut it off, don't read it and don't watch it. It's that simple.
