Viewers Say Pat Robertson's Comments on Haiti Bedevil Christianity
Overwhelming majority disagree with Robertson's views on reason for disaster
Flemington, NJ, January 19, 2010 – A new media study among 312 viewers of a news clip featuring Christian Evangelist Pat Robertson discussing the earthquakes in Haiti revealed that the majority of viewers indicated that Robertson’s comments position Christianity in a negative light.
The study was conducted during January 18-19 by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com® website, to obtain viewers’ perceptions of a news clip in which Pat Robertson claims that the recent earthquakes in Haiti may be a “blessing in disguise” and occurred because of a pact that Haiti made with the devil. To view detailed results go to: www.mediacurves.com.
A clear majority of viewers (86%) indicated that they disagree with Robertson’s statement that Haiti’s problems were due to their pact with the devil, and 68% indicated that they also disagree with Robertson’s statement that the earthquakes may be a blessing in disguise. In addition, the majority of viewers (76%) reported that they think the cause of the earthquakes is the sliding of the earth’s plates.
“Our automated response curves revealed that viewers’ believability levels plummeted when Robertson states that the earthquakes in Haiti are due to their pact with the devil.” commented Glenn Kessler, president and CEO, HCD Research.

This is just one persons ideas, not everyone needs to bend to this.
RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
Pat Robertson makes Christians look narrow minded.
RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
I personally would like to see Pat Robertson and his henchman, Rush Limbaugh, buried under the rubble of a collapsed building in Haiti!

I live in Sydney and I've never seen a pair under a hundred doallrs.I saw some last week around Circular Quay and (I'm not 100% sure, as I wasn't really looking to find the price of them, but just turned a pair over to see ..) I think they were around $ 150.Not sure who told you $ 30 but no way!!!I'll have another look this afternoon and update my answer tonight if I remember. I'd steer clear of buying them around the touristy areas like Circular Quay, The Rocks etc, as they're likely to be pricier.

Aupie Uggs are cute! The great thing about Uggs is that they are super comfortable, they brtehae well and keep you cool in the summer while they keep you warm in the winter.Uggs can be worn during the summer, winter, spring or fall. It is one piece of footwear you can wear whenever you desire or when you just want to be comfortable! It is summer now and if you want a pair, I'd say go for it

Hopefully Haiti can be rebuilt to a better place because of this. The old saying what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Hopefully the survivors of this tragedy will come out stronger.

Great article, thank you again for wirintg.
RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
I think that if Pat Robertson offered more detailed information regarding this "pact with the devil" then we could at least understand the issue more. He made a very vague reference to it that no news group seems to want to expound on. I think there is an at the least an unbalanced approach in the media to this topic.
RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
He is a idiot. God would not do something like that to punish the people. God is merciful, it makes no sense he would hurt so many.

was Pat there when Haiti "signed a pact with the devil" ? The only reason Pat is still alive is that Satan doesn't want im back in hell. The place is bad enough already

RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
I think this survey is built on the wrong assumption that Robertson links the earthquake to a pact made w/ the devil. He did not say that at all, nor did he make that connection. Watch it again. He was contrasting Haiti's conditions to the Dominican Republic, and saying the latter is fairing better because of a pact Haiti had made with the devil, and nothing about the earthquake.
RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
the Haiti quake could have happened anywhere with the earth settling and global warming or x reason... its not their fault

RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
One supposed christian says some weird thing and that is going to make people turn their back on the whole of Christianity?
I think not.
RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
I think Pat Robertson's statements really are down right against Christain beliefs. he should be ashamed of himself, as a preacher, to say God is punishing Haiti. Is he also punishing the Phillipines, and the other countries that have been hit with natural disasters? God never promised us a "rose garden," but a "pact with the Devil," infuriates me as a Christian. It is ok to discuss religious beliefs publically, as we discuss politics, because we are a free country, but to make such an absurd comment is unthinkable, especially for one who is suppose to be a Christian preacher! We should pray for them and their families, no matter what religion we are, because of the tragedy they have endured!
RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
This survey never gave me the opportunity to fully express how insane that man is. I'm a devoted Christian, but he has to be completely off his nut to believe that Haiti made a PACT WITH THE DEVIL? Are you kidding me? I can't believe I was even asked to review this clip, it's so ridiculous.
RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
the tv is always going to be full of individuals that have their own crazy ideas and thoughts...most 'sane' individuals realize this and take it all with a grain of salt.... if this IS because of a 'pact with the devil' we are all in much more trouble than we ever imagined....lol
RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
this pat robinson cnn video will stir up lots of debates

RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
I am appalled by Pat Robertson's vile remarks and the 700 club that he uses as a tax shelter to dispense his lies and steal money in the name of Christ my Lord and Saviour. As a Christian it makes me sick that he would say such things and blame the people of Haiti for "making a pact with the devil". May God Have Mercy on his soul for the pain he has caused over the years.

Carissa, thanks for your email. I don't think anynoe but the most obsessively PC worries about the origin of the term b**** slap any more than they worry that the term villain originally referred to villagers. ( Don't you realize how offensive it is to small-towners to be called VILLAINS!? ) The former term is as far dissociated from its mysogynist origins as the term b**** itself (which frequently no longer carries any gender implications at all). If anynoe's a b**** in the sense of its modern, common usage, it's Pat Robertson.

RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
Wha thappened to HAiti is a tragedy bu tGOd said things like that will happen unfortunately because we are ALL sinners. Tha thas nothing to do with a pact with the devil what kind of real christian will say that!! HAiti is very poor and has home who are not well built etc..and their location is apt to have earthquakes and disasters happen everywhere. HOwever I believe their their loss and disaster can be a good thing (blessing in disguise if you want to call it like that) as they are having a lot of help which can rebuild their country etc.. God showed us there his Power, he is all ALmighty!!
RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
Natural disasters occur everywhere in the world and are definitely not the act of any religious deity.
RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
Pat Robertson is a Christian terrorist, no different than Osama Bin Laden is an Islamic terrorist. He makes me sick to my stomach. He is a cartoon, but a dangerous one. All true Christians should unite to bring down his "ministry".
RE: Pat Robertson on Haiti
Pat Robinson may be sincere but as a christian myself Ibelieve comments such as these bring a bad name to evangelism. His comments had no biblical basis!

Who am I to judge anyone! I believe anyone who deny or curse God is curse; I really don't think that Pat Robertson meant that all the people in Haiti is cursed but; it maybe like when the man stated that the (Titantic) couldn't be sunked even by God. God do send messages and wake up calls...

To all unbelievers of christianity you are not gonna understand what pat is saying unless you are a born againn christian. God has to punish sin and yes sometimes there are innocents that get caught in the crossfire because of the sins of the fathers. Just take a look of sodom and gomorrah, God destroyed two whole cities at one time. But God will heal their land if they turn away from thier wickedness.
