Viewers Say U.S. Should Escalate Efforts to Prevent and Prepare for Climate Change
Belief in scientific evidence supporting global warming increases after viewing video

Flemington, NJ, December 9, 2009 – A new media study among 314 Americans revealed that the majority (72%) indicated that the United States should increase its efforts to prevent and prepare for climate change after viewing a news clip on the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.

The study was conducted by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com® website on December 8-9 to obtain viewers’ perceptions of a news clip highlighting President Barack Obama’s involvement in the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. To view agreement curves and detailed results go to: www.mediacurves.com.

After viewing the video, support for the statement that there is scientific evidence that the average temperature on the earth has been rising over the past few decades rose from 60% to 68% among viewers. The percentage of viewers who thought that global warming requires immediate government action also rose from 54% to 60% after viewing the video. In addition, the majority of viewers (86%) reported that more restrictions should be placed on companies that create too much air pollution.

I think the United States needs to allow our companies to compete in a global economy. Other nations are polluting the earth far more than we are with our strict epa regulations. Don't strengthen or relax ours, just work on other countries compling to our regulations.

i believe that there is evidence to show a bit of warming, but i also believe that we go through phases and i believe that the warming will change on its own and begin to get older again; i think it is overrated, however i do live doing my part just in case i'm wrong in my beliefs

I am not sure that climate is our number one priority but I certiainly don't think the Government can do anything without messing it up

I am SO angry about this issue. I normally wouldn't waste my time to complete a survey for this little $$. This is all a load of crap; our course there is "climate change." There always has been, our earth has been through numerous cycles, an ice age, a Medieval warming period, and like now, it was natural and not man made. These people just want to tax the rich (the US) to give to the poor (third world countries.) Thanks, I'd rather give my money away when I see fit, to whom I see fit. And this is just video is just anoth reason why I no longer watch CNN, the communist news network.

I think the government and everyone for that matter should try to make changes because of global warming. It may help... But I also feel that it may be too late. Kinda like someone deciding to take good care of their teeth after they already have a mouth full of decaying teeth from neglect.

We cannot play God in this issue. We have a repsonsiblity to use our resources wisely, but God will end this earth when He is ready - in His time. Nothing we can do will change that. Let's concentrate not abusing our resources and enjoying our time here. God will take care of the rest.

This was a very interesting survey and I'm glad it's being brought to the forefront about how important this issue is. There needs to be immediate action to hold companies accountable for their waste, pollution, etc. so we can at least slow down the effects of this global warming, before it's too late.

I beleive that most global warming is caused by big inustries and auto and very little naturally. What are the common people to do when we live in a country with ( you scratch my back and I will scratch yours) politics?

In the history of earth there have been cycles of ice ages and the climate heating up. Green house gases do not help, but basing decisions on false and doctored information to prove your point is not exactly what we need right now when the world economy needs to be addressed.

Saying that scientists agree on global warming or climate change does not make it a fact. Data does not support that there is a cause and effect of what man does correlates to changes in the world's climate.
RE: Climate Change
by surferbj (User #201636) on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 @ 3:32:47 PM (#3925)
I believe right now all eyes are on the economy and health reform. Climate change new rules and funding are put to the side because it is created over longer term. In the meantime, things will only become worse before they get their act together and will the government will have a much bigger challenge in our future.
RE: Climate Change
by janellscott (User #214752) on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 @ 3:32:47 PM (#3926)
global warming needs further study before we change the entire economy. HC reform needs further discussions before governments involvement and takeover. Economy and small business incentives should be foremost on the presidents agenda.
