RE: State of the U.S. Economy 2009
It was a good video because it gives off the perception that the economy has bounced back; however, it fails to mention the growing number of unemployment amongst other problems. But I do understand that it is also very important to show videos like this so people can see the good during this recession.
RE: State of the U.S. Economy 2009
I don't believe anything about our economy that I see on T.V.. The goverment lies about everything to the public, it hasn't worked for us in a long time. It's business as usual on capital hill.
RE: State of the U.S. Economy 2009
I hope this is the beginning of an upward trend!
RE: State of the U.S. Economy 2009
The clip referred just to the stock market and not the economy of the nation. To answer a question on the economy, after seeing the clip, will make your poll worthless.
RE: State of the U.S. Economy 2009
Perhaps unfortunately, Wall Street has next to nothing to do with the realities on Main Street America. A lot of web sites seem to thrive on "reality shecks" I think they/you ot to do a reality check on the economy comparing Wall Street with Main Street in small town America.

RE: State of the U.S. Economy 2009
Our economy has a long way to go to get back to better times. The Banks have lead us down this road and are the only ones getting bailed out by the government. What about the American citizens? Where's their bail out? The governement keeps shoving money into the very institutions that created this mess. We Americans helped by falling for the banking schemes, myself included. And the FED....don't get me started.
Thank you for this opportunity.

It was interesting for me to realize I need a quick news feed - I get it that the stock market went up and the longer they talked, the less I paid attention.

The economy has more indicators than just the Dow. Tech jobs and manufacturing which were the backbone of the economy have been lost to foreign providers over the last 10 years pretty severely and this will be the reason the downturn is continuing. I fear some markets have yet to crash or hit bottom due to this large shift in our workforce.

As mentioned by Shine , this is not a good point. People surf on the irnetnet mainly for fun and information. The content you reading is depends on your purpose. A lot scientists go to scientific news sites and journal sites to get the latest progress, and reading papers online. However, this point is a good reminder for me to reading papers. While I reading paper, I always check the reference when it is mentioned. This is kind of hyperlink. Thanks!
