A quick update on the activities of our living former Presidents:
President Bill Clinton returns from North Korea where he helped secure the release of two American political prisoners.
George H W Bush is busy with his business interests including dealings with the Saudis and the Carlyle Group and jumping out of planes.
Jimmy Carter is writing his twenty-fourth book and volunteering for his pet project; Habit For Humanity.
George W Bush awoke yesterday at 9:45 AM. He immediately turned on the television and watched "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" which he Tivoed last night.
Dressed by 11AM, he walks to the den where he sorts through his daily mail: Seven bills, a 20% off card from Bed, Bath and Beyond, a request for an autograph from a fan in Wichita, Kansas and a package of Omaha Steaks.
11:20AM Mr. Bush signs a three by five card and places it in the stamped, self-enclosed envelope for his fan in Kansas.
11:30AM Catches up on the latest sports on ESPN News.
12:30 AM Calls his mother to get the family recipe for her special Mac and cheese dish. Afterward he heads to the kitchen where he follows her directions by boiling water and opening up a fresh box of Kraft Mac and Cheese. Adds a dash of the secret ingredient: Pepper.
1:10PM Naptime.
3:00 PM Goes over notes for interview with the media.
3:05 PM Sits down with Billy Earl Townsend, a sophomore from Preston Hollow High School and reporter for the school's newspaper for a wide ranging discussion ranging from his favorite local restaurant to Preston Hollow's chances in the upcoming football season.
4:10 PM Retires to his office to play Pinehurst Golf Course on the new Tiger Woods 2010 video game. Although he keeps the mulligan feature on, the President shoots a respectable 77.
5:22 PM The President puts in a call to Senator Jeff Sessions to advise him on the HealthCare Bill. He is put on hold and then told that the Senator has stepped out for the rest of the week.
5:30 Driven to Chili's to take advantage of the "Early Bird" special: Nachos and cheese appetizer, chili with onions and a turkey meat loaf entrée. Asks for a doggie bag for the unfinished nachos. *
*Note: The Secret Service steers away a patron who approaches the presidential table. The patron is perplexed because she thought she recognized him from high school.
7:10 PM Father and son bonding time with Barney.
7:30 PM Turns on the Texas Rangers – Oakland A's baseball game. Sits in his favorite comfy chair with the leftover nachos and watches intently.
9:02PM Calls Former Secretary Of State Condoleezza Rice who is also at home watching the game to commiserate on a questionable third strike call on Ian Kinsler. Ms. Rice agrees.
9:41 PM The President begins to doze as the A's score three runs in the sixth inning to take a seven to five lead. Mrs. Bush enters and wakes the President, admonishing him for spilling nacho cheese all over the chair again and suggests he go to bed.
9:49 PM In bed, the president settles in with a book, a biography of Ted Williams that he's been trying to get through for the past four months.
9:50 PM The President is asleep for the night.
