Viewers of Chris Brown's Apology are Split on Whether He Was Sincere
Majority say Chris Brown's sentencing was not a severe enough punishment
Flemington, NJ, July 24, 2009 – A new national media study among 314 viewers of Chris Brown’s apology for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna revealed that viewers were split on whether his apology was sincere.
The study was conducted by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com® website on July 23, to obtain viewers’ perceptions of Chris Brown’s recent apology for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, which he posted on his MySpace page.
“While viewers reported that they were split on whether Brown’s apology was sincere, the automated response curves indicated that sincerity levels remained on the negative end of the scale throughout his apology, with the lowest point being when Brown said he was sorry,” noted Glenn Kessler, president and CEO, HCD Research.
The study also revealed that 47% of viewers reported that Brown’s apology was sincere, while 53% of viewers indicated it was not sincere. In addition, the majority of viewers (63%) reported that Chris Brown’s sentencing, which includes 6 months of “community labor,” was not a severe enough punishment.
Among the findings:
“Do you think Chris Brown’s apology to Rihanna was sincere?”
Chris Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault on ex-girlfriend, Rihanna.
He was sentenced to 6 months of “community labor” with no jail time.

RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
Interesting video clip, but there are two-sides to the story on why he hit her, did she provoke him?
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
i am a victim of spouse abuse one day they are sorry and the next day you are to forget
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
It would seem that Chris has learned his lesson. The last question, about the fairness of his sentence, was difficult to answer because apparently he did learn his lesson and it gave him access to the people he needed to talk to to learn that lesson. However, the question of a double-standard arises when his sentence is compared to that of the common man on the street.

I really liked this survey. It was interesting and fun.

How typical of somenoe to claim victim status, especially a woman who is in a powerful position, when she truthfully is the perpetrator of a crime. Shame on her! Lisalyn R. Jacobs is guilty of assault an battery with willful intent. Glad to see that she got arrested. Now, she should be prosecuted, found guilty for felony assault and battery, and go to jail.Only then will these hateful, poor excuses for a woman like her, stop committing crimes against other people and genders, and stop their misandry. Violence against anyone, male, female, or pet, is unacceptable and should be dealt with accordingly. As an African American woman, she clearly should know better as her race was so severely brutalized by oppression and hate for so long, especially the men. Shame on her!!!Lisalyn R. Jacobs works for Legal Momentum as vice president for government relations and has a background in law and working for the DOJ. So it is clear that she knows the law, but obviously from the video, could care less about it. A violation of one's privacy, if it was true that a public figure in public has any privacy, still does not give them the right to commit felony assault and battery against another person. No excuses! Ms. Jacobs is not the victim here, she is just a blatant and violent perpetrator. Bye bye Ms. Jacobs.Hopefully, this will be one more hater removed from society. Pay attention Dr. Phil and others, woman and mothers are guilty of violence too, at extremely increasing and horrifying numbers.Start reporting the truth rather than lying in conjunction with the myth that only men commit violence. That;s a load of whooey!

RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
very unique survey, but why on singers personal lives I mean isn't it personal to have anger issues?
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
I enjoyed this survey, but felt like it could have probed deeper into the issue.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
that was a good apology. I don't know if he really means what he says , but it was very sincere.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
I want to say that I hink that he done a good job. Hope that it won't happen again.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
i feel the apolgy was sincere but done strictly for pr damage control on his career . because it is hitting his wallet the way he hit rihanna
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
Chris Brown is just trying to save what's left of his career. I'm sure it's not going to be the same now...
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
This survey was enjoyable. It was short yet interesting.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
It sounded like a typical bunch of BS by someone who knows he is in trouble and is trying to convince people he is a changed person.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
as always I enjoy seeing the latest news and getting to voice my opinion of it.

259Dear MMB,One could begin to think that WGP is turning into McBags Takes a Holiday , which would be a real twist as the luaggge goes on vacation and the owner follows suit. An open and shut case if you ask me, but you did not, so I won't tell. It could also be titled West or no Bust for those of us who will now go without our analyses and daily dose of enhanced young exhibitionists. No bust indeed. As for travel, enjoy the pain, and to the Plane as it were.Known as staycationer nzsvz9

RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
I think Chris Brown got off on an easy sentence because he was a celebrity. His punishment should have been jail time. Once an abuser, always an abuser/
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
He wasn't sincere. Just damage control before he releases new single next month.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
the survey was easy and fast to complete. i do not find chris brown believable or sincere though, except that i'm sure he is sincere in wanting people to forgive him so that he can continue to make a fortune.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
Very different and interesting.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
I do not believe Mr. Brown was sincere. He only now realizes what he has lost ( Rihanna ).
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
that was a realy great survey ,i how short is was. thanks send more
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
If he was sincere, he wouldn't have to read off a cue card. He threw the word "minister" around several times. He didn't seem sincere, just sad that he got busted.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
Thx for the opportunity to give my opinion on this harsh topic of domestic violence.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
everyone has trouble once in awhile and just because they are stars or professional athletes is no excuse and should get the same punishment as a working class guy or lady.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
No excuse for his actions.

RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
You asked if Chris Brown's apology to Rihanna was sincere. You missed the point! That apology was NOT to Rihanna, but to his fans on his website. We can only assume that he had already apologized to Rihanna. Therefore, I said "No," because that was for his fans that he hopes will continue to buy his music.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
as a long/time (15 year) survivor of DV, I would like to say, THEY LIE, THEY NEVER CHANGE, MEN WHO BEAT WOMEN NEVER CHANGE!
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
He was totally sincere and I hope others saw that through this video. The whole thing was a total mess, and he seems sincerely sorry for his actions. Give the young man a break.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
thanks for letting me express myself
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
I believe he was sincere, everyone makes mistakes. He is a human just like the rest of us.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
While I am not entirely sure of all the details of what Chris Brown did to Rhianna, I think what's important to remember is that everyone makes mistakes, no matter their age, sex, race, whatever. Everyone will do something wrong, minor or major. So have an open heart and mind, and always forgive.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
This was a very interesting survey and hope to be invited to future surveys such as this one?
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
chris brown should not have listened to his lawyers and done the right thing by doing the video apology sooner
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
good survey. timely and pertinenet
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
love these surveys so thank you and please keep sending them as much as possible
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
Im glad Chris Brown did what he had to do & get his aplogy out there.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
I like surveys on things happing today
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
He's sorry he got caught, maybe the next time she'll be dead.
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
RE: Chris Brown Apologizes for Assaulting Rihanna
I thought Chris Brown was sincere and believable when talking about his home life of abuse, but I don't think he was really sorry for hitting Rhianna. He strikes me as some one who has a temper, whether or not he's come from an abusive background. He needs professional help and his sentence should have been a lot more strict than it was.
