Anne Coulter's Appearance on "The View" Elicits Negative Reactions from all Political Parties
Coulter's likeability rating significantly lower after her appearance

Flemington, NJ, January 21, 2009 – A study conducted among 309 self-reported  Democrats, Republicans and Independents revealed that Anne Coulter’s appearance on The View elicited negative reactions from all political parties.

The study was conducted by HCD Research during January 16-17 to obtain viewers’ perceptions of Anne Coulter’s appearance on The View, and determine how viewers rated Coulter compared to the five moderators and President Barack Obama, whom she discussed on the show.

When compared to all five moderators on the show and President Obama, who became the topic of her controversial appearance on the show, Anne Coulter rated the lowest based on scales of likeability, believability and sincerity.

Whoopi Goldberg and Barbara Walters ranked the highest on likeability, while Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Joy Behar ranked the lowest overall.  Among political parties, Democrats and Independents ranked Goldberg the highest and Hasselbeck the lowest, while Republicans scored Hasselbeck the highest and Joy Behar the lowest on likeability. The topic of their conversation in the featured video, President Barack Obama, ranked significantly higher than all 5 moderators as well as Anne Coulter.

While viewing the video clip, participants indicated their levels of agreement by moving their mouse from left to right on a continuum. The responses were recorded in quarter-second intervals and reported in the form of curves.

The Media Curves web site provides the media and general public with a venue to view Americans’ perceptions of popular and controversial media events and advertisements.
