President Bush Endorsement of McCain has Moderate Effect Among Republican and Independent Voters

Flemington, NJ, March 5, 2008 – According to a new national study among 656 self-reported Republicans and independents, President Bush’s endorsement of Senator John McCain had a moderate effect on Republican and Independent voter support for the senator.

The communications research study was conducted today by HCD Research and the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion to obtain Americans’ views on video segments from a press conference in which President George Bush endorsed Senator John McCain for president of the United States.

“Although the endorsement had little impact on increasing the likelihood of Republicans or Independents to vote for Senator McCain, their perception of the potential impact of the endorsement on voters improved moderately after viewing it,” explained Glenn Kessler, president and CEO, HCD Research.

While viewing segments of the video, participants indicated their levels of agreement by moving their mouse from left to right on a continuum. The responses were recorded in quarter-second intervals and reported in the form of curves. Participants were asked pre- and post-viewing questions regarding their support for Senator McCain. To view detailed results and agreement curves, go to: www.mediacurves.com

I think that President Bush's endorsement of Senator McCain is a step in the right direction to help to bring the Republican Party back together. Even though I was not a McCain supporter I do support the Republican Party and their values. In my opinion now the GOP can get down to the root of the problems and get on to setting forth an agenda to maintain control of the Presidency and maybe take back control of the Congress and the House and maybe get on to making things better for the American People, maybe even stop all the government give away programs and make people start working a living and taking pride in themselves and this Great Country.

I got the feeling of discomfort between the two. I'm afraid he'll be a puppet like Bush to the corporations. McCain seemed unsure of himself can't but my finger on it, but I don't want to see that kind of hesitance while in office. His diffinent uncertainty made up my mind as not to vote Replican

I endorse President Bush and to have him endorse a candidate tells me to really read up on him

Hopefully America will realize that this endorsement is almost as bad as voting for Bush for President. His endorsement is useless to me! who actually cares what he thinks and who asked him for his oponion?

I know that McCain is very hesistate in having Bush endorsing him, but at this moment in time, I don't know who would be a better endorsement for him. I can't stand Bush and I am definitely not voting for McCain

I know that the past President alway endorse the new person running for office. But with the feeling lots of people have about President Bush he might hurt Mr. McCain by being too close. Some people might not vote for Mr. McCain just because they hate Bush. Also with the rising gas prices lots of people are upset.

I did not know that the President had endorsed Sen. McCain and I think that it was right for him to do so. Bush was right to push the war on terror into Afghanistan and Iraq. Bush was wrong, wrong, wrong to have no energy policy to reduce our dependence on Saudi Oil. Bush was wrong not to push Nuclear, Solar, Wind, and geothermal power systems. Bush was wrong not to push for more Artic Oil and if it can not come from Alaska, then it should come from Canada. If Bush wants to support Mexico, then he should make provisions and a policy to acquire Mexican Oil and destroy the corruption that cripples the Mexican economy.
