Flemington, NJ, October 25, 2010 – A new national media study among 1,166 Americans revealed that the majority of respondents indicated that Michael Jackson’s death and Tiger Wood’s affair is still receiving too much media coverage in comparison to other events such as the oil spill in the Gulf, Farrah Fawcett’s death and Gary Coleman’s death, the ground zero Mosque/community Center, and the trapped miners in Chile.
The study was conducted by HCD Research and reported on their MediaCurves.com® website during October 19-22, to obtain Americans’ perceptions of recent and past media events, with regard to the amount of media coverage they are receiving.
While the majority of respondents (63%) reported that Michael Jackson’s death is receiving too much media coverage, an even larger majority (82%) reported that the Tiger Woods affair is getting too much attention. Other topics like the oil spill in the gulf and the trapped miners in Chile have reported lower levels of coverage accounting for 17% and 14% respectively believing there was too much coverage of the event.
