All Political Parties Believe U.S. Should Not Support Israel's Raid of Gaza Aid Flotilla

Majority of Republicans say Israel had right to board ship; other parties disagree

Flemington, NJ, June 2, 2010 – Results of a new national study among 800 self-reported Democrats, Republicans and Independents revealed that the majority of all parties reported that the U.S. should not support Israel’s decision to raid the aid flotilla sailing to Gaza.

The study was conducted during June 1-2 by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com® website, to obtain Americans’ perceptions of the Israeli raid of an aid flotilla sailing to Gaza last Monday. To view detailed results go to: www.mediacurves.com.

Among political parties, the majority of Republicans (64%) indicated that Israel had the right to board the ship, while a slight majority of Democrats (55%) and Independents (53%) reported that Israel “did not” have the right to board the flotilla. In addition, respondents indicated that “disturbing,” (60%) was the emotion they felt most after reading a brief news excerpt on the event.

The flotilla should have allowed a peaceful search to insure there no weapons being smuggled instead of trying to physically fight the Israel Military.

Thanks for the opportunity to voice my opinion. What I would like to say about this incident is that it would have been a much better option to trail the flotilla to their destination and then search the supplies before they were off loaded, without using any force. This was a terrible thing and the Palestinians deserve a better life.

I read on the internet the raid was going to happen days before the flotilla sailed, so the flotilla knew and planned to be raided. There were several alternative ways to deliver the humanitarian aid to Gaza but the planners wanted a publicity stunt and got it

Israel should be condemned for its actions in international waters. If Israel fears that weapons may be smuggled into Gaza with humanitraian aid, it should itself then provide safe land passage for the needed supplies.
