Majority Of Americans Say Congressman King's Comments About Michael Jackson Went Too Far

59% also say the attention related to Michael Jackson is inappropriate

Flemington, NJ, July 8, 2009 – A new national media study among 1,350 viewers of Congressman Peter King's video where he is seen commenting on the attention surrounding Michael Jackson's death, revealed that most (60%) believe King's comments went too far.

The study was conducted by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com® website on July 7, to obtain viewers’ perceptions of New York Congressman Peter King’s video post where he commented on Michael Jackson and the media attention surrounding Jackson’s death.

The study also revealed that most viewers (57%) did not agree with the comments made by King in the video. However, while the majority did not agree with King’s comments, most (59%) still agreed that the attention related to Michael Jackson is inappropriate.  “After viewing the automated response curves, we noticed that there was a significant increase in agreement when King referenced other stories in need of news coverage, such as our troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan,” explained Glenn Kessler, president and CEO, HCD Research.

Among the study findings:

Yes, he was very disrespectful. I am republican and I feel his comments were very negative. We need to be positive and acknowledge Mr. Jackson's good points. Maybe then we can get some attention because Rush, O"Reilly, and McCain are too old. Gosh!!!!!

Finally someone has the honesty, integrity and fortitude to say what needed to be said! If that were you or I being repeatedly accused of inappropriate contact with minors, not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES (that we know of) - one of which MJ paid 20 million dollars to the parents to keep the whole thing under wraps - there would be a posse outside our homes waiting for us to come out! REAL everyday heroes get no attention and go unoticed in our society... people who put their lives on the line every day. But a child-fondling, goofy looking, goofy-sounding, goofy-acting, 110 pound man child gets an inordinate amount of attention for kiiling himself with drugs??? Pfffffffffffftttt! Give me a break. It shows just how diseased and out of whack our society's morals are - and will always be. Leading up to World War II it has been said that Germany's society as a whole was weak, depressed, and out of touch after taking repeated defeats during past wars and allowed tHitler to become Dictator and the Holocaust to happen in an effort to right themselves and become a nation to be reckoned with once again... I can now see how our own society can easily fall into such a trap after watching people cry for a dead moon-walking child molester!

who is this peter king anyway...have never heard of him until this rant on MJ. i guess everybody knows you now,
peter king, and isn't it ironic, it's because you used the name of someone who is a gazillion times more famous
than you. while it may be true that the media attention may have been a li'l too much on his passing, it may only
be because there are tons of people who remember MJ not just for his weirdness & eccentricity (and let's not
forget his being a pedophile, as you keep insisting, because somehow you have secret unequivocal evidence that
was never presented in court) for but also his genius talent and philanthropy which made him the most charitable
pop star in history (just ask the guiness book of records). i hope when you leave this world, peter king, that you will
only be remembered for the bad things about you, as you are doing so now (wow, isn't that Human Nature, as Michael would say.) He totally understands, by the way.

Why would the media allow this Peter King's account of Michael Jackson. Obviously, he is one hateful person and does not know Michael Jackson. Keep his comments out of the news media. I'm a Republican and disgusted to know this Peter King has the nerve to go on TV to bad mouth and disrespect Michael Jackson, his family, and friends...and he's a Congressman??? I'll remember that name, ugh..... I also wish when polls are taken that they'd wait at least a day before closing them. The percentage would have been much higher in Michael's favor had more people known about this.

The congressman is an attention-seeking LOUDMOUTH and an outright boor. He should be censored.

Careful who you call a lowlife. If anything, Micheal Jackson's death brought to light just how much of a giver and humanitarian he was ,aside from his groundbreaking talent. The media goes overboard with everything but King is also insulting a whole era of people from the 80s and 90s, Jackson's reign, who wanted to pay homage. VERY distasteful.
