Flemington, NJ, June 5, 2008 – A national study conducted among 315 self-reported Democrats, Republicans and Independents indicated that after viewing segments of Senator Obama’s remarks at the AIPAC Meeting in Washington, DC yesterday, there was a slight increase in support among Independents for Senator Barack Obama’s Iran policy.
The study was conducted by HCD Research and the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion (MCIPO) yesterday to obtain Americans’ perceptions of video segments of Senator Obama’s remarks in Washington DC yesterday morning.
While viewing segments of the speech, participants indicated their levels of agreement by moving their mouse from left to right on a continuum. The responses were recorded in quarter-second intervals and reported in the form of curves. To view agreement curves and detailed results go to: www.mediacurves.com
A study conducted earlier this week on a similar speech by Senator John McCain revealed that his speech was more effective among Democrats than Senator Obama’s speech was among Republicans. Prior to viewing McCain’s speech, 6% of Democrats were in favor of his Iran policy, compared to 14% after viewing his speech. Prior to viewing Obama’s speech 20% of Republicans were in favor of his Iran policy, compared to 22% after viewing his speech.
