Democrats Believe Senator Clinton Has Clearest View on Health Care Policies

Debate on Health Care Issue Yielded Little Movement Among Democratic Voters

Flemington, NJ, January 22, 2008 – A new national focus group among 300 self-reported Democrats indicated that the majority (59%) believed that Senator Hillary Clinton expressed the clearest views on health care policies during last night’s debate.

The communications research study was conducted today by HCD Research and the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion to obtain Americans’ perceptions of candidates after viewing segments from the Democratic debate last night.

While viewing video segments of the debate regarding health care reform, participants indicated their levels of agreement by moving their mouse from left to right on a continuum. The responses were recorded in quarter-second intervals and reported in the form of curves. Participants were asked pre- and post-viewing questions regarding their opinions of the candidates. To view detailed results and agreement curves, go to: www.mediacurves.com

Among the study findings:

  • After viewing the segments on health care reform, the majority of voters (59%) reported that Senator Clinton expressed the clearest views on her health care policies, compared to 28% indicating the Senator Obama expressed the clearest views and 13% reporting that John Edwards expressed the clearest views.

If the Democratic primary for the 2008 presidential candidate was held today, among the following candidates, who would you vote for?

Prior to viewing debate segments:

After viewing debate segments:

Hillary Clinton - 46%

Hillary Clinton - 49%

Barack Obama - 31%

Barack Obama - 31%

John Edwards - 11%

John Edwards - 11%

Other candidate/undecided - 11%

Other candidate/undecided - 9%

“Our objective for the study was to distill the candidates’ responses regarding health care issues, eliminating accusations and non-issue rhetoric,” explained Glenn Kessler, president and CEO, HCD Research. “This debate was very contentious with the issues sometimes getting lost in the posturing. We were able to measure the response to their specific issue statements to determine which of the candidates’ stances on the issue were most valued by Democrats.”

The Media Curves web site provides the media and general public with a venue to view Americans’ perceptions of popular and controversial media events and advertisements.

I really think Hillary Clinton knows what she is talking about and does a good job of explaining it.

I just watched the video with Al Gore speaking on same sex marriage. I did not know he felt this way. I was a strong believer in him before hearing this video. Know I think he is awful. I can not believe he believes like that. What is he thinking? I do not now and never will believe in same sex marriage. I think that is what is wrong with the world today. To many people are going against the way of the world and doing all kinds of evil things. We need to get a grip on mankind, before it is to late. We do not need our leaders trying to jump on the band wagon and lead us all down the wrong path. After all they are suspose to be leaders and leading in the right direction. As for as I can tell, Hillary Clinton is trying to do right by America. At least the health care issue is the right side to be on. It's something that will help most Americans. And it's moral and not disgraceful like the track Al Gore is on.

Hillary Clinton has a clear view about healthcare where Huckabee is more honest about the economy and is much better to handle the situation about recession and economic issues.

Yes, Hillary Clinton re Healthcare has the clearest view and has tried to get her healthcare policy passed for years. The Republicans have always prevented this and say that she failed in what she said she would do. Is that rediculous or what?

Sen. Clinton has a good beginning to the health care issue, but there is still too much work to be done. her idea of having an extra tax on private persons is all well and good, but a grand amount of people have difficulty making ends meet now without adding more tax. There is no-such-thing as "a hidden tax" It's nice to call it that but completely impractical.

I do believe Senator Clinton has a definitive plan regarding health care for the American public. The results of the observations are by all means accurate.

Being a woman it doesnt surprise me that Hillary might actually care more and spend more time on health care. This poll result might actually be a fact, she may have put more thoght into this issue.
