America Predicts 2008: Americans Believe Obama will Win the Election

Point Spread - Obama 54% McCain 43%

Flemington, NJ, November 3, 2008 – The results of a study conducted by HCD Research among 2,726 self-reported Republicans, Democrats and Independents revealed that 73% of responders reported that Senator Barack Obama will win the presidential election by a point spread of 54% to 43%, with 3% for a candidate representing another party.

The study was conducted by HCD Research and the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion (MCIPO) during October 31 through November 2. Detailed results of the study are available on www.mediacurves.com

During the study, participants were able to wager a virtual sum of $1,000.00 on who they believed would win the election. They were also asked who they are voting for as well as their predictions regarding key election issues such as the nation’s economy, energy, objectivity of the media, health care and other issues.

“The interesting aspect of our study is that while 80% of Republicans indicate that they are voting for John McCain, only 49% believe that he will win the election,” commented Glenn Kessler, President and CEO HCD Research.
