Americans Say Tucson Shootings, Australian Floods and Tunisian Revolt are Receiving Appropriate Media Coverage

Nearly half say Palin's potential presidential run is receiving excessive coverage

Flemington, NJ, January 20, 2011 – A new national media study among 722 Americans revealed that the majority of respondents indicated that among the recent world events, the Tucson shootings, Australian floods and the Tunisian revolt are receiving the appropriate media coverage.

The study was conducted by HCD Research and reported on its MediaCurves.com® website during January 17-18, to obtain Americans’ perceptions of recent and past media events, with regard to the amount of media coverage they are receiving.

Among the recent world events, the majority of respondents reported that the shootings in Tucson (72%), the floods in Australia (58%) and the Tunisian revolt (60%) are receiving the appropriate media coverage. Conversely, nearly half of respondents (49%) indicated that Sarah Palin’s potential 2012 presidential run was receiving too much coverage, and an overwhelming majority (80%) indicated that Tiger Woods’ affairs were receiving too much media coverage.

I think Sarah Palin is evil and would be terrible for our country. Religion has no place in politics!

Although I think that the Tucson shootings have gotten a fair amount of coverage, I think that too much of it focused on rhetoric and not enoiugh on mental illness.

media has really tried to make Sara Palin look bad....she is a great lady and mother and loves this country...she is what we need...she had nothing to do with that mad man and his killing spree...

You should of asked if I care that Palin is running in 2012. I'd of told you "who cares" I won't vote for her.

There is nothing but violence on the media, whether internet, tv, etc. Even the cartoons are sometimes violent. When acted out in real life is a sad tragedy.

I care about all these topics in varying degrees. I want to know what is going on in the world. I want coverage. I just want the facts presented. Let me make my own decisions.

I feel that the most important issues are glossed over in most media outlets. The issue that worries me the most is our national debt! This should be something that is on the media agenda each day! It poses a SERIOUS national security threat. I suppose we all are so accustomed to debt that it seems normal. I don't think 99% of the people really understand what kind of debt our country is really faces. It is extremely serious and no one really mentions it vvery much. It's sort of the big elephant in the room we all would like to just ignore.

The media was totally irresponsible in covering the shooting in Arizona!! They were very quick to blame the conservatives, and it was obvious they wanted to finger point right from the start without the facts. Paul Krugman and the editors of the New York Times should be FIRED for their "yellow" attempts to distort the story.
