the whales are just fine at sea world. and sea world is one of the most wild life friendly companies around. living here in san diego, i can tell you they help injured and malnourished wild life on the coastline all the time.(seals, pelicans, porposes etc)

I wanted to clarify that though I believe it is wrong to keep these whales in tanks and have them perform tricks, I do not believe they should be released. These whales have either been in captivity for a long period of time or were born there. I don't think they would thrive in the wild as a result. In addition, I think that Sea World does a lot of great environmental work and the reputation of the park should not be destroyed because of this. However, we all must remember that wild animals are just that -- wild.

I think that Bob Barker wrote that letter out of emotion, not logic. To me it seems that Sea World is doing a great job!

We visited Sea World in December, and myself and my children loved it. Very educational as well as entertaining. I do believe that it is not the optimum environment for the animals, but as many of them are born into captivitiy, they would not know how to survive in the wild.

I appreciate the opportunity to share my opinions about SeaWorld and the latest incident. I'm a strong supporter for SeaWorld and I feel it was just a tragic accident that was unfortunately caused by a mistake from the trainer made that was involved.

I plan to write a letter to the President of Sea World re: his press conference today. His lack of sympathy to the family, refusing to apologize to the family for the horrible accident, & him using this press conference as a way to promote how wonderful SW is, when a death of a team member just occurred, was just appalling to me.

I think the trainers death was a great tragedy. I think tragedies happen in everything. The trainer could just as likely been in a car accident and died.

Bob Barker is right....animals should not be raised for our entertainment....let nature do what nature does best....let these animals go.

I know Sea World provides a lot of fun for families but it just seems so cruel to have the whales & other animals locked up. I also don't like zoos for the same reason. I do like wild animal parks where the animals are safe but free to roam in a very large space.

I like this survey. It would be cruel to release those animals in the wild when they are used to being fed by humans, it would do more harm in the wild than at seaworld.

I think that this was an interesting subject. And many people have different views on what animal cruelty could mean. However, this incident that just occurred with the whale was an accident. I don't think that the whale meant to hurt the trainer. We have to keep in mind that these are wild animals and this is their nature. This was only one incident and I believe that it was isolated and it is not a common occurrence. With that being said I don't think that any of you were a trainer is in immediate danger of these whales.
