I'm just glad the little boy was ok and I'm still undecided if this was a publicity stunt from the family or not. There was a remark the boy made to the effect that it was staged, but I'll be watching the news on that tonight to see more of the facts.

I saw a clip of the boy's saying it was done for the "show," and the father's rather overdone protest. As Shakespeare said, "methinks the man protests too much."

The appealing aspect was that this was news that connected to our childhood desires of adventure with the morbidness of the possible danger this boy could have been faced with. I think its appropriate/coincidental that the movie "Where the Wild Things Are" comes out the day after a boy "runs away" for fear of a parental punishment. Very gripping story with a happy ending!

I knew the outcome of the story when I saw this video, so my interest on the meter reflects more how interested I was - since this was yesterday, and my interest in what I already knew would be about zero.

They should make the family pay for the expense of all those rescue workers trying to help that family in vain.,

I was astonished at the media coverage of this story. I was so sincerely concerned for this child that I started to cry and became extremely interested in following the story. I now believe this to a 'hoax' and the parents should be arrested and charged if for nothing else but wasting the taxpayers dollars for this trick .

After they found out the boy had not been in the balloon, there wasn't much of a story and they should have moved on to other news.

As a news story it was fine. When coverage continued all afternoon, there was a problem. CNN and Michael Jackson was enough. This story developed into a farce.

this story is a complete hoax and I hope the people whp perpetuated it to gain publicity have to pay for all the manpower over 3 counties it took to find an empty balloon and the kid conveniently coming down from the garage attic...how nice he had snacks during his wait. Of course when anything like this happens the media immediately falls all over themselves to be 1st on the scene. During the ensuing coverage of this gripping story, was anyone aware that 4 more of our troops died today in Afghanistan?
