Americans Rank Traditional Media as Top Source for News of Jackson's Death


Facebook and Twitter were top two social networking sites for news and information

Flemington, NJ, June 29, 2009 – A new national media study among 300 Americans revealed that the majority of respondents (59%) indicated that they “first” heard of Michael Jackson’s death through traditional media outlets.

The study was conducted by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com® website on during June 26-28, to obtain information on how Americans heard the news of Michael Jackson’s death.

When asked to indicate all of the sources from which they heard the news of Jackson’s death, respondents selected media (93%), word-of-mouth (79%) and social networking sites (43%) as the top three sources. Respondents indicated that Facebook and Twitter were the top two social networking sites for obtaining information about Jackson’s death.
