Flemington, NJ, June 22, 2009 – A new national media study among 314 viewers of a news clip regarding the Continental Airlines pilot who died in mid-flight revealed that 87% of respondents reported that they agree with the way in which Continental handled the incident by not informing the passengers of the death while in flight.
The study was conducted by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com® website on June 19, to obtain viewers’ perceptions of the recent incident involving the Continental Airlines pilot who died in mid-flight.
The study also revealed that 32% of viewers reported that they have a more favorable perception of Continental Airlines after the incident. A clear majority of respondents (83%) indicated that they would not want to be informed if a pilot died during a flight.

While viewing the video, participants indicated their levels of agreement by moving their mouse from left to right on a continuum. The responses were recorded in quarter-second intervals and reported in the form of curves. The participants were also asked to respond to post-viewing questions.
