Political Parties Report Feeling Angry, Skeptical and Sad While Viewing FRC Anti Health Care Reform Ad

FRC Anti-Health Care Ad
Majority of all parties believe FRC anti-reform ad is effective

Flemington, NJ, August 18, 2009 - A new national media study among 605 self-declared Democrats, Republicans and Independents revealed that all parties reported that "anger" was the emotion they felt most while viewing an anti health care reform ad by the Family Research Council (FRC).

The study was conducted by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com website on August 17, to obtain viewers' perceptions of a recent anti health acre reform ad by the Family Research Council (FRC), a conservative, Christian right non-profit lobbying organization.

This anti reform ad earned an Impact Score of 9 among Democrats, and a score of 5 among Republicans and Independents. This study is the first in a series of studies that will be conducted on anti and pro health care reform ads to determine which ads are most effective in shifting favorability "for" or "against" the current U.S. health care reform plan. The Impact Score is a metric system based on a scale ranging from -100 points to +100 points, and is designed to gauge the effectiveness of health care reform ads.

"A positive impact score among Democrats suggests that there is some, albeit modest, movement of Democrats away from the pro health care reform camp," commented Glenn Kessler, president and CEO, HCD Research.

The majority of all parties reported that the FRC anti reform ad was effective, with 64% of Democrats, 81% of Republicans and 71% of Independents indicating that the ad was either extremely effective or somewhat effective. The top three emotions felt by Democrats while viewing the ad included "anger" (26%), "skepticism" (24%) and "disturbing" (20%). Republicans' top emotions were "anger" (34%), "sadness" (22%) and "disturbing" (20%) and Independents top emotions were "anger" (28%), "disturbing" (26%) and "skepticism" (23%) while viewing the FRC ad.

I think this add is very misleading. I also believe that that children should not be forced to have children and if they need help they should receive it through Planned Parenthood. Just because there are people who want babies doesn't mean these babies will go to a good home and if the parent keeps the child, there is no guarantee that the child will be in a good home situation. So again, I have no problem with Planned Parenthood helping. As far as this man's surgery, I think this ad is nothing more then scare tactics and it doesn't frighten me. I have no health insurance and I would rather have socialized medicine as my friends in Europe do then have no healthcare at all. Those who fight this care are thos who can afford to be taken care of. Walk a mile in my shoes and then tell me how it feels to have no care.

Well, how about if children quit screwing and forcing the taxpayers to keep up their mistakes then??? Personally, I think the right to vote should be denied to anybody on any type of public assistance or welfare. These people are why we're in the mess we're in and need to be accountable for their actions. I'm tired of funneling 1/3 of my paycheck into the system so these loser cans screw away the money. As far as the older folks on medicare, they've paid into the system their whole lives and deserve to be taken care of. As far as these younger folks enjoying the free ride, get a job and take responsibility for once in your lives. Maybe then you wouldn't be spitting out babies you can't afford to raise and who will have absolutely no chance in this world to do anything except to repeat the lousy circumstances perpetrated onto them by their "parents".

I am really outraged (and ashamed) at this shabby piece of crap ... and embarrassed that your company lent its good name to such a superficial pack of lies foisted off on the public by extremists. Far from convincing me, it convinces me the perpetrators of this scam are liars who need to be stood against firmly ... which is why I UPPED my rating of both the government & the president ... not because I believed it but in direct response to the outrageous lies thrust upon us to twist and distort the issue.

When it first came on, I was not sure what the ad was for...I think abortion is too much of the focus. I think there should be some comparison as to what the seniors will lose from what is being cover--what type of surgery was not being covered--Yesterday, Medicare/Medicaid covered the surgery--under the new guidelines it is not being covered.....something like that.....

I believe the video was incorrect. I think it was something the insurance companies set up to discourage people from wanting the government plan. The insurance companies are the ones who now decide weather someone has surgery or not.

I wish someone would list all the current ideas on the new medical plan that the President is trying to get thru. Mostly, all we hear is negativity from the press etc. How about some actual facts laid out, so we can form an honest opinion.

I think we need some health care reform for people that dont have insurance, i have insurance and dont mind the high cost because we have excellent coverage, everything is going up house insurance is out of controll. I have no objection to taking care of people without insurance, but leave my plan alone i am Happy with it.!!!!!!!!

This is a very misleading ad and I'm very angered by it. You want to see what a good healthcare system looks like? Look at Canada's. This country (the US) should be ashamed of their current system and even more ashamed that they're trying to stop Obama from making necessary changes!

Canada as a model of health care efficiency? You should catch up on the news. The incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association says:

"We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize."

This advertisement made you take notice on how bad this country is getting.People SHOULD be concerned. And I personally feel its going to get worse before it will ever get better.

We older people are in a lot of trouble in this country Obama promised us change I guess he didnt make it clear as to what the change would be every one is afraid to critisize him because they are afraid of being viewed as a biggot .In my case you can view me as you like I know what I am and I know that I am not a bigot but obama is a hrrible president and the sooner people accept that the sooner we can get this country on the right track and stop this failed experiment

THIS IS THE TYPE OF COMMERCIAL THAT DISPENSES WRONG INFORMATION BY STATING THAT THE GOVERMENT WILL BE PAYING FOR ABORTIONS. IT IS DISGRACEFULL THAT THE "RIGHT" ARE ALLOWED TO PUT THAT "GARBAGE" AND PUT IT ON THE TV.

think this ad was very biased and the way the questions were worded slanted toward the far rights point of view. It makes me mad that any thing this president does is met with a negative view by these people. I didn't hear them screaming when Bush spent 144 billion for Iraq.

I find it offensive that you show an ad than is obviously pro-life and did now show one that was pro-choice

I am kind of tired of the adds that thrive on emotions. If you want to do an add, find out what the bill says and then do an infomercial about it. You might also want to find out why the people (including myself are upset. More than that, you might want to find out what people have against the current system and how they would fix it. Leave the politicians out of it and find out what WE THE PEOPLE want.

the problem is all the lies that are being told to the elderly and the uninformed. i want you the heads of the insurance companies and these sentors, and those at fox news to give up thier great insurance and see what 45 million true americans are dying of i did not have insurance for 6 months between jobs and when my child became sick the doctor i had gone to for 14 years refused to see her if we didn't pay the full charge at the appoinment. try it. how many people are dying because they can't buy insulin at 200 a bottle or the heart meds they need or can't get the operation they need. their only crime is being poor, greed took down all the great societies of the past and it is now destroying the U.S.A a few rich and those at fox news that are being paid handsomely to tell lies are the ones that are the traitors and are as bad as the ceo's that have moved their compainies over seas for slave and child labor. you all should be made to look into the eyes of the dying poor and see what your lies and greed are doing. give up your insurance for a year and i will follow you to the end of the earth you would not make it past your first cold. greed cometh before the fall. the root of all evil is money. remember your man bush is the one who made this mess not the current president bush has almsot destroyed this 200 year old nation in 8 very long years. open your eyes and think of others and not just yourself. anyone with brains knows the truth and just like in the last election not all the people will be fooled by your lies. please stop trying to destroy america for your own benifit america will fall but not becasue of health insurance, or another country but becasue of fox news the repulicans and people like these people who claim to be god fearing as long as there is money in it.

I said the advertisement was 'not at all effective' because it is, for the most part, 'preaching to the choir'. I would say statistically those that are against abortion are also against more government spending and government control. We need to get back to the basics of the Constitution and stick with that. It worked before for a very long time - and it can work again!
