Piers Morgan Nominated by Americans as Best Replacement for Simon Cowell

Sean "Diddy" Combs and Quincy Jones also ranked highly as potential "American Idol" judges

Flemington, NJ, December 28, 2009 – A new media study among 1007 Americans revealed that the number one celebrity that respondents thought should replace Simon Cowell if he leaves the show “American Idol” was “America’s Got Talent” judge Piers Morgan.

The study was conducted by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com® website on December 24-28, to obtain Americans’ perceptions of which celebrities, producers, musicians, or other public figures would be a good replacement if “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell were to leave the show. To view detailed results go to: www.mediacurves.com.

The runner up celebrities ranked as the second and third best replacement for Simon were Sean “Diddy” Combs and Quincy Jones, respectively. Other high ranking celebrities nominated to replace Cowell were David Foster, Donny Osmond, Jay Leno, and Jon Bon Jovi.

Simon Cowell is a character that would be hard to replace. A well known music artist would be the best option.

It is virtually impossible to come up with a replacement for Simon. He is one of a kind.

Michael Moore is sort of controversial, like Simon. Michael moore is a good narrator and controversial "liberal writer".

I feel Sean Combs should replace Simon Cowell, because he has the background in entertainment, is a music mogul, and can be just as honest and rude as Simon Cowell is. He would bring a good vibe to the show that wouldn't conflict with the other members of the panel.

I think the next judge should be someone that has actually won the contest, like Ruben Studdard or Kelly Clarkson

Rosie has a robust personality, is quite forthcoming in her opinions, extremely funny at times. And very rarely speechless. Therefore, I think she would be a good candidate for his replacement.
