Majority of Viewers Want Recount of American Idol Voting for Season 8 Winner

American Idol Rigged?
50% have less favorable view of AT&T after learning of controversial texting parties

Flemington, NJ, May 29, 2009 – A new national media study among 300 viewers of a news clip featuring the recent controversy surrounding the American Idol voting process revealed that the majority of respondents (59%) indicated that there should be a recount of the voting for the American Idol finale show.

The study was conducted by the MediaCurves.com® website on May 28, to obtain Americans’ perceptions of the controversy involving Fox’s American Idol show and Fox’s sponsor AT&T, who hosted “texting parties” in Arkansas which were thought to give contestant, Kris Allen, an edge in the competition.

The study also revealed that half of participants (50%) have a less favorable view of the AT&T brand after this incident was made public.  In addition, a large majority (87%) reported that “power texting” (texting a vote multiple times for the same contestant) can influence the voting system for American Idol and similar competitions.

“The dial testing results for the CNN report study suggests that viewers were dubious of statements from AT&T as well as Fox supporting the American Idol results,” commented Glenn Kessler, President and CEO, HCD Research. “Viewers’ agreement levels increased when the American Idol methodology was questioned by the reporters, and plummeted when the corporate statements were quoted.  It is clear that viewers agreed with the statements questioning the validity of the results and disagreed with rebuttals from AT&T and Fox,” concluded Kessler.

Among the findings:

“Do you believe that voting can be influenced by ‘power texting’ (texting one’s vote multiple times for the same contestant)?”

It just really strikes me as funny that everyone is so bent out of shape on Adam not winning American Idol. But yet in the previous week Chris and Danny's numbers were not working right. When you would call in you would get an out of service recording. Even though people sent in complaints and posted blogs about the numbers not working American Idol ignored the fact that their numbers were not working but yet Adam's numbers were working just fine. I honestly believe that the final show down would have been between Chris and Danny had the phone lines been working right. After all the only thing Adam could sing was Rock even on Country week he sang rock.
IT'S A SHAME THAT PEOPLE ARE SUCH BAD SPORTS........IT'S A SHOW FOR ENTERTAINMENT...........EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES..........IF YOU REALLY WANT A RECOUNT THEN IT HAS TO GO BACK TO THE WEEK BEFORE THE FINALS WHEN THE PHONE LINES WERE NOT WORKING RIGHT FOR DANNY AND CHRIS AND START OVER FROM THERE........

Read American Idol Vote Scam by Kerry Kolsch found at Amazon Books. American Idol was rigged by a rogue AT&T executive by the name of Matt Jordan. This is a well researched book that not only tells how they rigged the vote in Arkansas but also explores the marketing data that shows that Adam Lambert was more popular in 49 states.
