Majority of viewers believe Jon Stewart won head-to-head contest with Jim Cramer

Flemington, NJ, March 16, 2009 – A new national study among 448 self-reported Democrats, Republicans and Independents revealed that the majority (74%) indicated that Jon Stewart benefited most from the interview with Jim Cramer on The Daily Show.

The study was conducted by HCD Research on March 13, to obtain viewers’ perceptions of an interview that The Daily Show host, Jon Stewart conducted with Jim Cramer, host of CNBC Mad Money, last Thursday evening.

Jon Stewart’s believability and sincerity scales increased slightly among viewers after watching the interview. Jim Cramer’s likeability, believability and sincerity scales decreased after watching the interview.

While viewing the video clip, participants indicated their levels of believability by moving their mouse from left to right on a continuum. The responses were recorded in quarter-second intervals and reported in the form of curves. The participants were also post-viewing questions.

The Media Curves web site provides the media and general public with a venue to view Americans’ perceptions of popular and controversial media events and advertisements.
