American Idol Viewers Agree with Judges on Iraheta and Lambert, Disagree with Allen Selection


Respondents say Megan Joy Corkrey should have advanced rather than Kris Allen

Flemington, NJ, February 27, 2009 – A new study conducted among 1,071 American Idol viewers revealed that respondents agreed with the judges’ selections of Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert to advance to the next round. However, viewers indicated that Megan Joy Corkrey should have advanced to the next round, as opposed to Kris Allen.

The study was conducted by HCD Research on February 25, to obtain American Idol viewers’ predictions and opinions of which contestants should advance to the next round. HCD Research will conduct a weekly study during the airing of American Idol Season 8 throughout the contest. The study results will be compared to the actual results from the show each week. Viewers were asked to choose their top three picks from this week’s show. The majority of viewers agreed that Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert should advance to the next round (each received 49% of respondents’ votes). While the viewers ranked Megan Joy Corkrey third, with 35% of votes, the judges selected Kris Allen to advance. Allen only received 25% of the viewers’ votes.
