Flemington, NJ, November 18, 2008 – A new national study among 155 married Americans revealed that respondents who rated their marriages “above average” have more frequent sex compared to those who responded their marriage was “average” or “below average.” Regardless of how each segment answered this question, most respondents agreed that sex significantly contributes to a healthy marriage.
The study was conducted by HCD Research on November 17, to obtain Americans’ perceptions of a CNN News report regarding a minister of a mega church in Texas who encouraged his married parishioners to engage in sex. To view agreement curves and detailed results go to: www.mediacurves.com.
Among the respondents who reported that their marriage was “below average,” 75% indicated that they were having sex with their spouse 0 times a week on average. This compares to only 17% of those who responded that their marriage was “above average.”
The following results indicate that respondents’ rating of their marriage directly relates to how often they are having sex with their spouse.
Please indicate which factors you think most contribute to a healthy marriage?

While viewing the video, participants indicated their levels of agreement by moving their mouse from left to right on a continuum. The responses were recorded in quarter-second intervals and reported in the form of curves. The participants were also post-viewing questions.
