What? And Give Up Show Biz?

Browsing the Internet today, three stories caught my eye.

"Bomb Patrol: Afghanistan" is a new reality show for the G4 Network, wherever that network is. Cameras will follow soldiers in Afghanistan as they defuse bombs "Hurt Locker" style. The production company is the same one that brings us TLC's Peabody Award winning opus "D.C. Cupcake," another reality show about a cupcake store in Washington D.C. Roadside bombs, death, butterscotch and sprinkles, what's the difference? I wonder if the production crew is as enthused about going to Afghanistan as they were filming dough rise. Hope "Bomb Patrol" has funny characters like the ones from "Jersey Shore" so I can laugh with them before they get blown up.

Bravo's "The Real Housewives Of New Jersey" got its highest rating in history the other night by publicizing that there was going to be a huge showdown fight with guns, knives and buckets of spurting marinara sauce. I don't watch the show but I have been following the hilarious hijinks of these delicate flowers from the Garden State in the newspapers as they get charged for assault, prostitution, file for bankruptcy and other fun activities. Glad to see that America is taking these gals to its collective bosom. Bravo "Bravo!"

Bristol Palin has just been signed to appear on this year's "Dancing With The Stars." Is she really a star? What exactly is her talent other than getting pregnant? And doesn't her mother despise Hollywood and it's Godless values? Hopefully, Sarah Palin will stay away from Los Angeles when they tape the shows, but you know she won't. She'll do anything for a buck or publicity, including pushing her kid into the limelight where she is certain to be destroyed by the tabloids. If the Momma Grizzly had thin skin about a joke on Letterman, she ain't seen nothing yet. (There's currently a fight going on in SoCal between Disney and Time Warner Cable over fees that Disney is demanding to carry their product, which includes ABC. Disney is airing ads everywhere saying that if you don't switch cable providers by September 1st, you won't be able to see such hit shows as "Dancing With The Stars." I'm starting to think that Time Warner is doing a public service by dumping the network.)

I'll say it again for the umpteenth time: This is why I'm glad I'm no longer in television.
